History of philosophy is one of the centre’s fundamental directions: research into how philosophical ideas were formed, circulated and transformed in the Romanian tradition and in the universal one. The direction is directly connected to the CCIIF’s mission — the history of philosophical ideas — and to research on Romanian philosophy in the European context.
Events from the archive
The national symposia dedicated to Romanian philosophical thought form the nucleus of this direction:
- Constantin Noica’s Thought Today — national conference, 24–25 April 2009 (conference page).
- Mircea Florian — the philosophical work, from the reconstruction of the given to the idea of recessivity (symposium page).
- Maiorescu and Maiorescianism in the contemporary Romanian philosophical consciousness (symposium page).
- The Contemporary Relevance of the Philosophical Thought of Ion Petrovici (symposium page).
- C. Rădulescu-Motru in “critical posterity” (symposium page).
- The Hermeneutics of the Idea of Romanian Philosophy — symposium and collective volume (see also the call for contributions: post 285).
The complete archive of symposia: Symposia. In addition, lectures with a historico-philosophical theme were delivered within the CCIIF Lecture Series, such as those dedicated to Descartes (Dragoș Vădan’s lecture) and to Kierkegaard (Ștefan Bârzu’s lecture).
Publications
- Hermeneutica ideii de filosofie românească — a collective volume resulting from the symposium (see Volumes).
- The proceedings of the national conferences are published in volumes and in partner academic publications; selections appear in Analele Universității București — Seria Filosofie.
Members and Associated Faculty
Research into the history of philosophy is carried out by the centre’s members — faculty members of the Faculty of Philosophy with work in Romanian and universal history of philosophy. See Members.
