Aesthetics

Aesthetics is the centre’s most visible direction, built around the Ion Ianoși National Conference of Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art — an annual series that has reached its seventh edition — and around the international journal of aesthetics and philosophy of culture.

The “Ion Ianoși” Conference

The series is dedicated to the figure of Professor Ion Ianoși (1928–2014) — professor of philosophy and aesthetics, essayist, monographer, translator, specialist in Russian philosophy and literature, honorary member of the Romanian Academy. In one of his formulations taken up by the centre, the sublime is “the most ethical of man’s aesthetic qualities” (Estetica, 1975).
