National Conference: Philosophical Ideas in Modern and Contemporary European Art (1850-2000), 25 April 2013

The impact of technological development and of major political changes on the arts was significant throughout this period. Thematic explorations, changes in the creative process as well as in that of artistic reception find their sources both in scientific, political, sociological and anthropological approaches and in philosophical ones. A certain Weltanschauung of modernity and postmodernity makes its presence felt in the European artistic creation of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Which themes are approached in particular, why are new techniques of creation resorted to, why do art and the artist become ever more involved in the social and political life of the time, why are certain aesthetic categories abandoned in favour of others, why is the new vehemently proclaimed until it becomes a tradition, what are the effects of globalisation on the arts, what philosophical themes are found in the artistic manifestations of this period?
Here are some of the questions we invite you to answer by participating with papers in the National Conference on Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art for students, master's students and doctoral students, which will take place at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Bucharest on 25 April 2013.
