The D Platform Project – a Cultural Instrument and an Interdisciplinary Portal Dedicated to the Danube Area

THE D PLATFORM PROJECT
A CULTURAL INSTRUMENT AND INTERDISCIPLINARY PORTAL DEDICATED TO THE DANUBE AREA

1. Purpose. Project description

PurposeProject descriptionProject description
Promoting contemporary art, cultural resources and the preservation of biodiversity, in the context of producing a valuable artistic work within a young interdisciplinary team.
The D PLATFORM project sets out to promote contemporary art, artistic debut and the integration of young researchers into working teams, in parallel with the promotion of natural resources and authentic Romanian cultural values. In the broad context of renegotiating the relation between the natural and the cultural versus the technological and the functional, an objective and interdisciplinary analysis of the Danube area will be initiated, one that will include activities of artistic, anthropological and environmental documentation. The dissemination of results will rely on the organisation of scientific colloquia, presentations and exhibition events at national and international level. The meetings will bring together artists, landscape architects, anthropologists and bioethicists, who will describe specific perspectives, as well as inhabitants of the investigated area. Solutions will be identified. Education and cultural consumption will be encouraged thanks to the attractive and accessible structure of D PLATFORM, a multimedia initiative synthesising visual arts, site-specific environmental intervention, electronic music, urban cultural practices, and audio/video projections. A database of images, texts and interviews will be created, a useful instrument for humanities specialists, artists and journalists. An interdisciplinary communication portal will be designed, one that will facilitate the formation, at national level, of young teams able to access the European research programmes in the field (Creative Europe, Danube Transnational Prog. 2014-2020).
